Tetsuo, the Iron Man (1989)Re-watched it after some time. Not really an example of a 'good movie' in terms of modern cinema. Abstract, dark, surreal. Think Begotten with some Eraserhead and Takashi Miike weirdness, combined with manga-like high points of the story
(female metallic phallus-like tentacle anal penetrating protagonist... stuff like that). There is little entertainment here if you expect standard story telling in any way. However, I found it moving, interesting, and am definitely looking forward to check some other stuff from the same director. A warm recommendation for anyone appreciating multiple aspects of a movie (such as cinematography, stop motion, production design etc)
Synecdoche, New York (2008) Eh. I was hoping for something more... revealing. The first 30 minutes or so are very interesting and attention grasping that makes us wonder - what happens next? Sadly, nothing happens afterwards.
The general idea of New York being the entire world in the head of a 'mad' theatre director is interesting. However, once we past the boiling point, or if you prefer, the actual point of entire story, we're wondering WTF. Am I really going to experience the same thing over and over again until it ends?
That's the main problem - there is nothing new once we realize what the movie is about. There are some subtle metaphors and references (burning house, 13 million people in the 'world', world = New York obviously etc), but that's what they are - references. They don't serve much purpose in the story, but they do give us deeper insight in the world of the protagonist, mostly kinda eerie yet hopeful atmosphere.
Too long, absolutely pretentious and unfortunately, unsatisfying ending. There is really nothing to understand or explain here, as the story is pretty clear, but it gets kinda boring and the worst part imo, we honestly don't care for any character.
The Monolith Monsters (1957) Universal golden age of monsters - if you like it, you'll definitely like this. Some great dialogues, cool monsters idea and straight-to-point, concise story telling. The last part felt a bit too long tho, but overall, a pleasant movie experience.

Evil Dead (2013) and
Amour (2012).
Evil Dead is just stupid random horror movie with some cool gore scenes and few weak references to original, and while Amour is actually a very strong story, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except lovers of french cinema (read; kinda slow, but rewarding movie, although Amour is NOT so rewarding)
