New engine features much better destruction, new lighting effects, new animations, weather effects, and more.

Battlefield 4 is currently being revealed behind closed doors in Stockholm to the Swedish press and gamers. And the first details about the game have emerged.
Many suspected that Battlefield 4 would be powered by an updated Frostbite 2 engine — the same that powers BF3. Now it appears that Battlefield 4 is getting a brand new engine, Frostbite 3, filled with tons of new features built from the ground up.
Among the new additions is a much improved destruction feature where buildings can be completely destroyed (like in Bad Company 2, only at a much greater level and detail), a better lighting system, new animations, a brand new weather system, and more.
We’ll be hearing a lot more about Frostbite 3 and the technology of Battlefield 4 over the next few days. Stay tuned!
BF4 confirmed for next gen release!
Battlefield 4 will not be returning on the PS3 and XBOX360, according to IGN.
This will most likely mean that BF4's main targed, thus leading platform will be the consoles.
I suggest holding back buying BF4 if you're going to play it on the PC.
Today we have exclusive news from the EA internal conference, Battlefield 4 will include female characters, will stress the Frostbite 2 Engine 80% and will launch October 23rd, 2013 on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox 720 and PC. According to EA employees that have been to the EA internal conference the current-generation version will run at 30fps while the next-generation version will run at 60fps. Next-gen consoles (and PC) will support 64 players on MP, while current-gen consoles won’t be able to support such a feature (and will most likely feature 32 players battles).
Battlelog will be improved, with stats integration being better than its ever been. Voice commands have also been confirmed, as well as Commander’s role in MP (with new tools and abilities). The game will take place in a Modern-day setting, with video-sharing becoming a mainstay. Yes, gamers will be able to share videos via Battlelog and cloud storage has been confirmed too. Other interesting news is that Battlefield 4 will include female characters: Three factions will be playable – USA, Russia and China. Early demo video of the game was actually shown in that EA internal conference, the rumor claims.
